St. Louis Arts & Culture Scene

Our location in the heart of The Loop near the Delmar MetroLink Station grants our guests easy access to the city’s rich cultural heritage and vibrant arts and entertainment scene.

In addition to the internationally acclaimed Gateway Arch, St. Louis is home to the Anheuser-Busch World Headquarters and Brewery and the City Museum, a 600,000 square-foot mixture of children’s playground, funhouse, surrealistic pavilion, and architectural marvel made out of unique, found objects.

Those looking for live entertainment can enjoy one of many delightful performances at The Fabulous Fox Theatre, the Peabody Opera House or Powell Symphony Hall.

Art aficionados can spend an afternoon at any of St. Louis’ nationally renowned art museums, such as the St. Louis Art Museum, the Contemporary Art Museum St. Louis or the Pulitzer Foundation for the Arts.

The adventurous may explore beautiful Forest Park, home to the St. Louis Art Museum, the Science Center featuring the McDonnell Planetarium, the Missouri History Museum, the St. Louis Zoo, and the world-famous Muny outdoor musical theater.

Forest Park & Attractions

At 1,293 acres, Forest Park is one of the largest municipal parks in America, and is over 50% larger than New York City’s Central Park. The Moonrise Hotel is conveniently located just half a mile from its northwest corner.

The Muny

The Muny is the largest and oldest outdoor theater in the country. The venue has shown just about every smash hit play at one time or another such as The Producers, Hairspray, Fiddler on the Roof, and appropriately, Meet Me in St. Louis.

The Science Center
Ranked by Parents Magazine as one of the top five science centers in the country. Explore the OMNIMAX Theater, the Planetarium, and the life-sized Tyrannosaurus Rex on your visit to The Science Center.

The Boathouse
The Boathouse offers paddle boat rentals Monday-Sunday all year long (unless the lake is frozen). Visitors can also eat at The Boathouse restaurant while watching the other boaters.

Missouri History Museum
The Missouri History Museum was founded in 1866 “for the purpose of saving from oblivion the early history of the city and state.” The impressive building showcases Missouri’s rich cultural history.

Saint Louis Art Museum

The Saint Louis Art Museum opens out onto “Art Hill” with breathtaking views. Some of the museum’s larger permanent collections include Oceanic art, ancient Chinese bronzes and European and American art from the late 19th and 20th centuries.

Saint Louis Zoo
The 90-acre Saint Louis Zoo, located only two miles from Moonrise Hotel in Forest Park, features over 700 species. With free admission, the Zoo is a must-see attraction for animal lovers of all ages.

The Loop
The Delmar Loop has been designated as “One of the 10 Great Streets in America” by the American Planning Association (APA). This vibrant 6-block area includes 140 specialty shops, 48 multi-national restaurants, 14 entertainment and music venues, 25 clothing boutiques, 26 unique/gift stores, and 10 galleries.

Sports
Local professional teams include Major League Baseball’s St. Louis Cardinals, NFL St. Louis Rams, NHL St. Louis Blues, as well as a host of collegiate and semi-pro sports.
