The weather is finally warming up and everyone is itching to get out after a long, wet winter. If you’re searching for an abundance of outdoor activities, St. Louis is the place to go. From free activities to food, fairs, festivals, and other fun, visitors to the Lou never lack for things to do. We put together a list of our favorite St. Louis springtime activities, so if you’re planning a trip to our boutique hotel, you can add these to your itinerary!
Thurtene Carnival: April 13-15
Come to the largest and oldest student-run carnival in the nation this weekend at Washington University. Enjoy exciting rides, a Ferris Wheel , student performances on the main stage and classic carnival eats all on the gorgeous Wash U campus, right down the road from the Moonrise!
St. Louis Earth Day Festival: April 21-22
As one of the most eco-friendly hotels in the universe, this is by far one of our favorite events in the city! Come for tasty treats from Green Dining Alliance certified food vendors, featuring plenty of locally sourced, organic, vegetarian and vegan options – served in recyclable or compostable containers, of course. Enjoy your meal while listening to live music, participating in hands-on educational activities or meeting area environmental non-profits, all in beautiful Forest Park.
Stroll Along the St. Louis Walk of Fame
Come to one of the 10 Great Streets in America, the Delmar Loop, for a stroll down the St. Louis Walk of Fame. See over 100 brass stars of famous St. Louisans embedded into the sidewalks of The Loop! When you’re done, take the newly up-and-running Loop Trolley for a joy ride, enjoy the unique shops along Delmar, or stop into the Moonrise for a visit!
Farmers Markets: Saturdays, all season
If you’re a fan of fresh, local produce, meats, baked goods, hand-made merchandise and more, spend a lovely spring Saturday at the farmer’s market. The famous Soulard Market is a must-see if you’ve never been, open Wednesday through Saturday all season long. But if you’re staying at The Moonrise boutique hotel on a weekend, you can stroll right down to the Midtown Farmer’s Market! The Midtown Market is conveniently located on Delmar and is open from 8:30am – 12:30pm on Saturdays starting in April.
The Muny’s Centennial Season: June 11 – August 12
This year marks the Muny’s 100th season! Shows include Meet Me In St. Louis, The Wiz, Singing in the Rain, Annie and more. This beautiful, historic outdoor theater has no match anywhere in the nation. The 2018 season kicks off in June with Jerome Robbins’ Broadway and continues through August. Tickets are on sale now, but arrive early and you could snag one of the Muny’s many free seats.
Pridefest St. Louis: June 23 – 24
The Moonrise is always a fan of all things Pride, and the annual St. Louis Pridefest is no exception! The festival at Soldier’s Memorial Park features a parade, food and drink vendors, two entertainment stages with live music, a children’s area, Athletes Village and much more. There’s something fun for everyone at this downtown event!
Enjoy the Best Rooftop Dining in St. Louis
Once the warm weather hits, everyone flocks to patios and outdoor bars for al-fresco refreshment. The Moonrise’s Twilight Room and Rooftop Terrace Bar is the best spot in the city to enjoy stellar drinks and small plates while soaking in an out-of-this-world view. Plus, The Moonrise is one of the most pet-friendly hotels in St. Louis, so you can bring your four-legged friend up to the roof to bask in the sunlight with you!
Of course, this is just a taste of all there is to do in the Gateway City. From Cardinals’ games to world-class live music to the amazing, free St. Louis Zoo, there’s never any shortage of spring and summer entertainment in STL. So start planning your visit, and don’t forget to book a room at the Moonrise to ensure that you have a truly stellar stay!
