This weekend (Oct. 20 – 22) is Washington University’s annual Parent and Family Weekend. All of us here at the Moonrise would like to extend a warm welcome to all of the parents and family members coming into town for a visit with their hard-working students!
Whether your child is in their first or final year at Wash U, you’ve surely been missing them since the day that classes began this semester. We hope that everybody’s weekend is full of fun and chances to reconnect with your loved ones and make lasting memories!
Planning Your Weekend
Of course, you planned ahead and have already booked your stay with us here at the Moonrise. Lucky for you, not only are we within walking distance of the main campus, but we’re also located on one of St. Louis’s most unique and vibrant city streets! The Delmar Loop is jam packed with fabulous food, drinks, shopping and entertainment. Even if you never venture any farther into the city, there will be no shortage of things for you and your favorite student to do.
If your family members are music lovers, check out a concert at Blueberry Hill or The Pageant. And when walking through the Loop, be sure to look down at the famous St. Louis Walk of Fame to see stars honoring great St. Louisans and their accomplishments.
Looking for an excellent St. Louis restaurant? For breakfast, brunch, lunch or dinner you can’t do better than the Eclipse at the Moonrise! For family members 21 or older, head up to our rooftop terrace bar to enjoy a drink and fabulous views underneath the world’s largest man-made moon.
If you’re bringing the younger kids to town with you, the world-class St. Louis Zoo is hosting “Boo at the Zoo” every evening through the end of the month. It’s fun for the whole family! And on the topic of animals, the Moonrise is one of the only pet-friendly hotels in St. Louis, which means you can bring your child’s beloved pet along with you, too!
University Events
Naturally, you’ll want to spend some of your time on campus and participating in the University’s planned events this weekend. For information on check-in and their full schedule of events, head here. From tours and open houses to information sessions and cultural performances, they’ve planned plenty of great opportunities for students’ families to get a feel for the school.
The Danforth Campus, which is located approximately one mile from the Moonrise, is the central hub of the University. However, there are campuses spread throughout St. Louis. For a list of campuses and their maps, head here.
We look forward to seeing all of the families and students this weekend! If you haven’t booked your stay with us yet, remaining rooms are very limited. Check now to see if there are any available spaces left. If not, you can still come to the Moonrise to enjoy our out-of-this-world atmosphere, food and drinks. And of course, you can always land here with us next time you come to town!
