What To Do In The Lou For The Rest Of February

Let’s get real – we’re over winter. It’s been cold, grey and wet since the holidays ended and we’ve had enough. If you’re like us, limping through the end of this cold season and praying for an early spring, you need something fun to take your mind off these last few weeks of winter.

Lucky for you, our bustling boutique hotel in the heart of the Delmar Loop always has the scoop on what’s going on around town!

Soulard Mardi Gras’ Taste of Soulard: Feb 23 – 24

Take a self-guided tasting tour and pub crawl and experience the Cajun flavor of Soulard. This has become one of the most popular events of the St. Louis Mardi Gras season! A $25 ticket includes one drink voucher and six food vouchers that allow you to choose six dishes you wish to sample from a range of Cajun-inspired options. If you attend on Saturday, the famous Soulard Trolley Tramps will shuttle you to restaurants throughout the neighborhood!

Purina Pet Parade & Weiner Dog Derby: Feb 24

Did you know that St. Louis is the Guinness World Record holder for largest costumed pet parade in the world and home of the nation’s longest-running wiener dog derby? You do now! Festoon your furry friends in their finest Mardi Gras gear and let them strut their stuff. The parade starts at 1 p.m. at 12th and Allen; the best-dressed pets will be chosen for the Court of the Mystical Krewe of Barkus and will be invited to the Coronation Pageant where the King and Queen of Barkus will be crowned.

If that’s not enough cuteness in one day for you, the annual wiener dog derby will be taking place in Soulard Market on Sunday, too. If you’re the proud owner of a speedy sausage pup, sign them up to compete to become the “dashingest dachshund”! Registration for both events is $10 each and all proceeds go to benefit Open Door Animal Sanctuary.

Don’t forget, you can treat your pet to a full weekend of fun and bring them to stay with you at our pet-friendly hotel!

Rock The Boat Tap Takeover: Feb 28

Join us in our rooftop Twilight Room for a tap takeover by Rockwell Beer Co. and Logboat Brewing Company! Rockwell is a former machine shop transformed into a one-of-a-kind brewery in the St. Louis Grove and has recently debuted their new selection of beers, ranging from the classic to the experimental. Logboat, based in Columbia, MO, is always brewing unique and interesting beers that offer a refreshing craft beer experience. We’ll be featuring several beers on tap from each brewer. Come in beginning at 5pm to find the one that floats your boat!

Concerts at The Pageant and Delmar Hall

Shake off the winter blues while you shake your thing at a concert at The Pageant or Delmar Hall! Both venues are conveniently located within a two minute walk of the Moonrise front door, so you don’t have to stray far to have a good time. Catch Led Zeppelin tribute band Celebration Day at The Pageant this weekend, or hit a weeknight show at Delmar Hall and catch Dr. Dog or the Neal Morse Band.

Happy Hour at The Moonrise’s Eclipse Restaurant

Still can’t shake the winter blues? Drink until you can’t even feel the cold. Our own Eclipse Restaurant has the best happy hour drink specials on The Loop, with $2 off all drafts, $5 glasses of wine, $7 for a beer and a shot of Cabin Still, $7 handcrafted cocktails and more. Drink specials are available Sunday through Thursday from 5 pm to 7 pm. And if you need something to soak up the liquor, we’ve got the best rooftop dining in St. Louis.

There you have it! If you don’t enjoy the last week of February, you can’t blame us. Whatever you choose to do, you can never go wrong with a stay at The Moonrise. Book your visit today!
