Here at the Moonrise Hotel, we love all things moon which includes the Lunar New Year! This year, the Lunar New Year kicks off on Saturday January 28, but here in University City, we are starting the celebration a night early. Lunar Brew Tasting
Create Space is hosting the Lunar Brew Tasting Friday, January 27, 2016, from 6 – 9 pm. While admission is free, you can purchase a beer passport for $25 which lets you try all the craft and international beers available. If you hurry up and RSVP you may be able to receive a free tasting of Urban Chestnut’s Moon Monkey Ginger Beer!
Lunar New Year Kickoff
The official kickoff of the Lunar New Year is at Mandarin House Banquet Hall on Friday, February 3, 2016 from 5 – 9 pm. Admission to the Lunar New Year Kickoff is free. There will be multiple performances throughout the night and a night market featuring Taste of Asia restaurants, artisans and retailers.

Lunar New Year Parade & Festival
The Lunar New Year celebration continues Saturday, February 4, 2016, from 11 am – 9 pm. Admission to the parade and festival is free! The parade begins at 11:30 am at Brittany Woods Middle School and heads north down 81st Street, and turns into the parking lot of Seafood City, ending at Mandarin House Banquet Center, 8004 Olive Blvd.
The Night Market at Mandarin House Banquet Center will be open from 12 – 8 pm and will offer Taste of Asia restaurants, artisans, and retailers. Plus, enjoy performances all day long!

Finish out the Lunar New Year celebrations with a 10 course dinner on Friday, February 10, 2016 from 6 – 9 pm. Menus at each venue vary, but are packed with traditional Chinese dishes. Tickets are only $30 and include a complimentary drink!
