Although Make Music Day began in France in 1982, this exciting affair is now held in 700 cities and 120 countries across the world. In the Delmar Loop, this event takes on a personality all its own. With painted pianos placed along the street, passersby are encouraged to take time out of their day to create melodies, no matter if you prefer consonance or dissonance. In addition to originating tunes on the pianos, live musicians will be performing outdoors at ten of your favorite businesses throughout the Loop including Vintage Vinyl, Pin-Up Bowl, Mission Taco, and Blueberry Hill. Children and adults of all ages are welcome to join in the fun or boogie in the background. The live performances will begin at 10 am and continue until 10 pm. Chalk The Loop

From novices to professionals, artists of all experience levels enjoy participating in Chalk The Loop. As a chance to highlight creativity and skill, Chalk The Loop also offers a great spectator experience. To entice more contestants, cash prizes will be offered in the following categories: Best of The Loop Theme, Best Walk of Fame Theme, and Most Creative. First ($150), second ($100), and third ($50) prize awards will be presented in each category. All of the winners will be announced on VisitTheLoop.com on Monday, June 26th, 2017. The cost of registration is $10 for adults, $8 for students, and $6 for children 12 and under. To sign-up, you will need to purchase tickets. You must then print the payment confirmation page and present it at the 9:00 am check-in, where you will receive a premium box of chalks to get going on your unique images. If the weather does not permit the event, it will be moved to the following day (Sunday, June 25th). You can check out the Chalk The Loop Facebook Page for more information!
