6 Memorable Moments from 6 Years on the Loop

Time really flies when you’re on the moon; today we’re celebrating the Moonrise Hotel’s sixth anniversary!

We’ve had a stellar time providing a unique hotel, dining and entertainment experience to St. Louisans and travelers from all over the world since blasting off six years ago.

Here’s a look back at six of our favorite moments from six years on The Delmar Loop!

New Moon Room Bar

Twilight Room Opening: May 8, 2013

In May 2013, our menu of unique event spaces rocketed to new heights when we opened the Twilight Room! Located on our eighth floor rooftop, the Twilight Room provides a modern, sleek and stylish atmosphere for any special occasion or a night on the town. This one-of-a-kind venue features a glass solar panel roof, a fiber optic star-covered ceiling and amazing views of St. Louis that can be enjoyed year-round!

Dog Days of Summer

The Moonrise Hotel is proud to be pet-friendly, and each year we get to partner with the Stray Rescue of St. Louis to throw a fundraiser on the Rooftop Terrace – pets included! We love hosting the Dog Days of Summer event each year because we get to treat our favorite four-legged guests to a goodie bag and their parents get a couple drinks on the house. Plus, 100% of the proceeds go to the Stray Rescue of St. Louis.

The Fifth Dimension’s Induction to the St. Louis Walk of Fame: March 18, 2010

We’re not sure if the moon was in the seventh house or if Jupiter aligned with Mars, but it definitely felt like the dawning of the age of Aquarius when The Fifth Dimension was inducted into the St. Louis Walk of Fame! Original members and St. Louis natives Billy Davis Jr. and Lamonte McLemore attended the induction ceremony representing the six-time Grammy-winning “Champagne Soul” group. The Fifth Dimension’s star is located right across the street from the Moonrise Hotel at 6164 Delmar.

Chuck Berry Statue Unveiling: July 29, 2011

The Father of Rock & Roll himself – decked out in his trademark sailor’s cap – was on hand to watch the unveiling of his eight-foot-tall statue across from the Blueberry Hill restaurant and concert venue.  Chuck received a cascade of congratulatory messages from famous well-wishers, such as Elvis Costello, Little Richard and fellow St. Louis native Michael McDonald. Photo by Catherine Hendel.

STL 250: May 25, 2014

In 2014, St. Louis celebrated its 250th birthday! There were amazing events all over St. Louis throughout the year – not to mention the 250 colorful “birthday cakes” located at prominent places of interest around the region. We had a blast throwing a birthday party for our city in May 2014. We traveled through time with six different themed rooms including Prohibition and The Future, all while listening to blues and jazz from Curt Landes.

Loop Trolley Groundbreaking: March 12, 2015

The next chapter of The Loop’s history began earlier this year when construction started on a $43 million trolley connecting The Loop and Forest Park along Delmar Boulevard and DeBalieviere Avenue, with 10 stops along the way. The lively groundbreaking ceremony featured ragtime music, trolley hats and even a small electric model trolley set. The trolley is scheduled to open next year; we can’t wait!
