What To Do in the Lou This Weekend

There’s no place in the galaxy quite like St. Louis in the fall. Once the weather cools and the leaves start changing, the whole city seems to make an agreement to get out there and enjoy the season! If you’re a traveler coming in for a visit, or a local looking for fun, we’ve got a few things for you to do in the Lou this weekend.

Best of Missouri Market

This annual event takes place at the Missouri Botanical Garden every first week of October. Each year the garden is converted into a large outdoor market that showcases the finest products the Show-Me State has to offer. Local artisans, food vendors, wineries and breweries, and live music are just some of the things event-goers can enjoy. There will also be a “kids corner” with crafts, barnyard animals, pumpkin decorating and cow milking. The market runs on Friday from 6p.m. til 9 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. til 5 p.m. and Sunday from 9 a.m. til 5 p.m. Tickets are $15 for adults, and $7 for children and Garden members. Oct 6 – 8

Historic Shaw Art Fair

After checking out the Market at the Botanical Garden, head to the nearby Shaw neighborhood for their annual art fair! The fair has been held every year since 1993 and is one of the premier fine art and crafts fair in the city. If you are an art lover, or just enjoy live music and delicious local food, this is the event for you! Admission is just $7 for adults and free for children 14 and under. Bring a nonperishable food donation to get $1 off your ticket price. The fair is on Saturday from 9 a.m. til 5 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. til 5 p.m. Oct 7 – 8

Zootoberfest

If you didn’t already know, we’re big animal lovers here at the Moonrise hotel! So of course we’re excited by any excuse to make a visit to the best zoo in the country, and hang out with our animal friends. The St. Louis Zoo puts its spin on Oktoberfest and hosts its own celebration, Zootoberfest, each October. Have a beer, enjoy delicious German fare like bratwurst and listen to traditional German music while the kids learn about animal migration and hibernation. Admission to the zoo is free, as always, so take the whole family for a day of fun! Oct 7 – 8

Grove Fest

This popular annual street festival is celebrating its 12th anniversary this Saturday! One of St. Louis’s most vibrant neighborhoods hosts this bash every year to showcase what makes it so eclectic and fun. Street performers, crafts, fashion, art, food and drink vendors, a kids zone, live music – what more could you want? The free festival is held on Manchester Avenue between Kingshighway and Vandeventer Avenue from 2 p.m. til 11 p.m. Oct 7

All the stellar events this weekend are sure to keep you jetting around town. After a full day of fun, you’ll want somewhere to relax and unwind. So book a room at the Moonrise Hotel for a smooth place to land! We’ll make sure your weekend is out-of-this-world from start to finish.
