Certainly you know how over the moon we are about everything far out in space, but since our home base is located in St. Louis…our love for STL runs deep. In keeping with that passion, we’re so lucky to have a great relationship with a sensational local charity partner – Operation Food Search.
For those who may not be in the know, Operation Food Search is a non-profit organization based in St. Louis whose mission is dedicated to ending hunger in the metropolitan STL area. They’ve distributed more than 3 million dollars worth of food and household essentials to over 330 community agencies. These outstanding donations calculate to feeding over 200,000 people each month – a third of whom are children!
Operation Food Search offers four distinct programs and services to help with it’s values.
Nutrition Education
In an effort to help fight hunger with knowledge, OFS offers an educational program about the best nutritional practices to help the community with topics ranging from healthy lifestyle choices, better budgeting and the healthiest cooking and eating habits.
Operation Backpack
Students know that a great education is elevated to greater heights thanks to a healthy lunch program. Operation Food Search helps in this process by distributing backpacks of nutritious, healthy food to thousands of thankful children in St. Louis public schools.
Hunger Hotline
This incredible phone service is operated 7 days a week and 24 hours a day and helps to provide those in need with the right information to get immediate hunger relief.
Food Distribution Program
The heart and soul of the Operation Food Search mission – millions upon millions of pounds of food are sorted, boxed, and distributed free of charge.
For the last few years, Moonrise Hotel and Eclipse Restaurant have joined with OFS on numerous events that highlight their strengths and bring awareness to their mission statement. In 2016, we were grateful to have celebrated their 35th anniversary and be a part of their #CheersTo35Years campaign with a portion of the proceeds of an out of this world wine donated to Operation Food Search. Eclipse also joined forces in their July 2016 Tomato Explosion campaign where proceeds were donated when anyone ordered our delicious House Tomato Pasta.
Our Snow Ball Parties in 2016 and 2017 have also been lucky enough to benefit OFS; any attendee who landed with us at Moonrise and brought in two canned goods/non-perishables or a $5 donation received a ticket redeemable for one of our signature Snowball cocktails!
