The Most Nefarious Villains in the “Star Wars” Saga

If you love space as much as we do at the Moonrise Hotel, you’re likely to be a “Star Wars” fan, too. Since the next “Star Wars” movie will not debut until late 2017, we got to thinking about our favorite aspects of these intriguing stories. We find that the dark side is especially fascinating, as it has produced some of the most ominous enemies of all time. Just the thought of these ruthless, evil leaders can make the hair on your arm stand at attention as you imagine what a confrontation with them would be like. These miscreants are a step above your typical bad guy. From The Phantom Menace to The Force Awakens, here is our list of the most frightening “Star Wars” villains. If you’ve never seen a Star Wars movie or aren’t up to date with the entire series, there may be a few spoilers. If you’re a die-hard fan who has seen them all, it’s perfectly fine to continue!

Darth Vader

Darth Vader is arguably one of the most terrifying bad guys ever created, quite possibly because he started out as an innocent boy and turned into such a monster. The heavy breathing, dehumanizing mask, and merciless behavior of Darth Vader are enough to generate a series of nightmares that will leave you unable to sleep for weeks. While Vader may have sacrificed himself to destroy the Emperor and save his son, his dreadful demeanor will forever traumatize viewers.

Emperor Palpatine

Also known as Darth Sidious, Emperor Palpatine is deceptive, manipulative, and cunning. Trust us, your ex has nothing on this guy. Palpatine rose to be the Supreme Chancellor of the Galactic Republic, which he then reorganized into the Empire. We think Emperor Palpatine is especially appalling as he markets himself to be a caring politician who supports democracy, when he actually rules a cult of dark jedi who intend to take over the universe. We hope that Earth never sees a politician as odious as Emperor Palpatine.

Darth Maul

As an apprentice to Darth Sidious, Darth Maul joined the rankings under the Galactic Empire. While his appearance alone could shock and appall, Maul attributes much more as an evil-doer. Darth Maul attempted to eliminate two of the most notorious leaders in the “Star Wars” universe, Emperor Palpatine and Darth Vader, as he felt he should have been in the position of power. This sith had zero fear, which eventually lead to his capture. He even continued to seek revenge against jedi Obi-Wan Kenobi until he was finally killed in their last battle. Talk about no chill!

Kylo Ren

While Kylo Ren is just being presented to viewers in the “Star Wars” saga, he is truly frightening. With zero patience and an affinity to be as powerful as his grandfather, Darth Vader, Kylo will stop at nothing to eradicate all of the jedi. We believe that he will supercede his grandfather, as Kylo continuously expels light from his life. This was most evident when he murdered his father. We saw a humanizing moment in Darth Vader when he chose to save his son, but Kylo intends to do no such favors – family or not. Keep your eyes on this guy; he is sure to become a threatening supervillain that you wouldn’t want to encounter.

Supreme Leader Snoke

As Snoke saw the rise and fall of the Galactic Empire, he became invested in resurrecting the effort through the First Order. He is utterly ghastly with a keen power to direct and influence those who serve him. Very few are as manipulative and demanding as Snoke. We can see this with his control over Kylo Ren. Although Supreme Leader Snoke is not out with the ranks as a killing machine, he is masterminding the entire operation, which we find to be completely bone-chilling.

Jabba the Hutt

With a detestable appearance, Jabba the Hutt was a serious crime lord that was not to disregarded. Dealing in illegal ventures such as piracy and slavery, this outlaw controlled a lot of wealth and influence over the outer rim. After striking a deal with Darth Vader, he gained even more power and increased his criminal activities. We would definitely not be as brave as princess Leia was when killing Jabba. With his authority, looks, and criminal background, Jabba the Hutt is one vile dude.

Regardless of which “Star Wars” movie is your favorite, we can all agree that the writers and directors of these films have produced villains that we would never want to meet face-to-face. Unless, of course, we were accompanied by well trained master jedis. We hope you are now as excited as we are for The Last Jedi in December 2017. Celebrate the release with a stay at the space-themed Moonrise Hotel! After experiencing the new “Star Wars” movie, you’ll surely want to lay your head next to the moon. Book now to reserve a room for you and your friends. Wookies, or doggies, are welcome, too!
